context

In April 2025, I participated in the https://design.luni.app/, an annual competition where students and freshly graduated designers compete to design iOS applications.

With 50 participants and just 6 days to compete, it was for me the perfect opportunity to express my creativity, measure myself against other talented designers, and receive feedback from industry professionals.

brief

The brief asked us to design the mobile experience for InstantMeal, a futuristic food service where personalized meals come in cube form. Users could create custom combinations, order remotely, and pick up their meals at stations across busy public spaces.

The main challenge was designing for a specific scenario - helping Léa, a busy consultant, handle stock shortages and grab her order between trains in just minutes.

benchmark

After reading the brief, I started by benchmarking delivery applications on https://mobbin.com/?referrer_workspace_id=18f7da19-736e-4551-865c-b3866b411cf3 to analyze existing flows, understand the different steps and screens that users typically encounter.

I studied how apps like Uber Eats, CHOPT and others handle distributor selection, ordering, customization, and pickup processes.

This research helped me identify common patterns, giving me a solid foundation to build upon for InstantMeal's unique cube-based experience.
